This piece was developed over the period 1995-1999
and finally finished in mid 2000. It was nominated to Cannes 2001
by Nora Barry of Druid Media and premiered at her groundbreaking
web launch, The Bit Screen. The Bit Screen was the first to offer
films made specifically for the Internet (web cinema). The web site
launched in June of 1998 and screened weekly from January, 1999
through July, 2003. Her on-line festival Streaming Cinema, the first
US festival of web based cinema and interactive media, screened
eight times in three years in Philadelphia, Boston, Lisbon, Seoul,
Linz and Amsterdam. Druid produced all aspects of the festival,
from festival programming and planning, through marketing and public
relations. As a result of Nora's enthusiastic sponsorship, Life
at Night has been seen and cataloged in festivals and archives internationally.
Music by John O'Brien. Web programming by E. J. Fuhr.
